held as pre-symposium of the annual GA conference in Dublin, Ireland

Sunday, 2nd July 2023 from 9:00 a.m.

What is the aim of the workshop?

The Young Researchers’ Workshop (YRW) offers the unique opportunity to present own data as a short talk (10+5 min) in a free and relaxed atmosphere. Special emphasis is laid on an intense discussion between all participants.

When does the YRW take place?

The workshop is held on Sunday, 2nd July 2023 as a pre-symposium of the Annual GA Conference in Dublin, Ireland. It will start at 9:00 a.m. for approximately 5 hours.

Who can submit an abstract?

Ph.D. students and early stage post-docs (only within their first year) are invited to submit an abstract for a short talk. Only high-quality abstracts can be considered. The YRW jury will review the abstracts and take the decision on whether a short talk will be granted or not.

What happens during the YRW?

After a welcome note, the YRW will start with an impulse lecture by a young but established scientist who will give insights into his/her area of research. He or she will also highlight who to step into and advance a scientific career. The main part of the workshop will be dedicated to short lectures. The YRW jury will select the two best presentations and will bestow the prizes to the two awardees in the YRW closing session.

What do the prizes include?

The two best presentations will be awarded with two categories of prizes, which will be announced soon – stay tuned! In addition to the prize money, the two awardees will get the great opportunity to give their presentation also in a special slot of the main congress.

Animal Healthcare & Veterinary Phytotherapy: Science & Practice 2023

held as pre-symposium of the annual GA conference in Dublin, Ireland

Sunday, 2nd July 2023 from 9:00 a.m.

Abstract submissions are now closed

We are pleased to invite you to the Pre-Congress Symposium Animal Healthcare and Veterinary Phytotherapy: Science and Practice as well as to the GA Congress (71st International Congress and Annual Meeting of the Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research – GA) which will take place on 2-5 July 2023 at the Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland.

Thanks to the efforts of Prof. Helen Sheridan and Dr. Gaia Scalabrino, the local organizers of the GA-Congress 2023, the GA-networking group on Medicinal Plants and Natural Products in Animal Healthcare and Veterinary Medicine was invited to organize again a one-day Pre-Congress Symposium. To bring together practitioners, scientists and industry in our field is the idea of our networking group and in particular of the symposium. After four years we will eventually meet again in person.

The symposium will cover following aspects:

  • Animal self-medication

  • Ethnoveterinary medicine

  • Veterinary pharmacology of medicinal plants

  • Science and practice of veterinary phytotherapy

  • Clinical, in vivo and in vitro research with medicinal plants or natural products for animals

  • Feed additives and animal health care products based on plants rich in phytochemicals

The programme includes keynote lectures, invited short lectures, as well as contributed short lectures. The animal related contributions of the main congress will be presented as posters during the Pre-Congress Symposium. An international industrial exhibition with companies presenting herbal feed additives, veterinary drugs and phytogenic health care products for animals will be held. A broad professional, scientific and personal exchange will be possible during the breaks.

In addition, one plenary lecture of the main congress with the focus on our topic, as well as a short lecture session and a poster session will take place within the main congress. We are also hoping for an evening networking group meeting.

Registration for this Pre-Congress Symposium can be made here
